Art Now

It doesn’t seem to matter

whether it’s good or bad

It doesn’t seem to matter

whether it’s in poor taste or not

It doesn’t seem to matter

as long as the words are long.

It can come from skips or wastepaper bins.

It can travel from quarries cross far away lands.

It may stem from the lowly factory floor.

It can even be found in the household drawer.

I doesn’t have to be crafted or skilled,

so that ordinary folk can understand

The only criteria that the critics do like

Is the fact that it’s not been done!!

Striking White Paper

A mid August wind whirls through the twigs in the lime trees.

I rush inside, warm from my 4 wheeled space capsule,

through the white door to a cozy front room.

to stare past the double glazing, nature and the traffic muffled.

tonight I don’t need the towns arterials in my mind.

tonight it’s ok, I put on the music loud.

Sometimes I just get people poisoned

can never say when it might happen,

but lately it’s happening a lot.

and each time it takes longer to go away.

I guess I’m just lucky that way

Last gulp of coffee as I turn the last page,

and gaze at the watercolours of a long dead man.

It gives me inspiration; I reach for my book and pen'

and know that there are others, out there, in the night.

others who feel the same.

Yes, sometimes it’s alright,

to be an artist in this oh, so, woeful England.

picking up a pen, I strike white paper.

It

IT

I wouldn't like to be without.

I think she'd miss it too.

Problem is, it's never the shape

you would really like it to be?

As you get older it's comfort comes first

as many will surely agree.

Although the shape is important,

it certainly must feel right too.

It's been black and blue, and often quite red.

at other times grey or white,

It was purple and white a long time ago,.

but we don't talk about that much now.

The early seventies I remember with pride,

and people would mention my name.

On size they'd remark, it's the best in the street.

though some didn't like it so green.

We've lately been thinking along bigger lines,

though the Mrs. would still like it red.

I know the one you have is cute, she said,

of that there is no doubt.

It's been so reliable over the years,

and it works any time, day or night!

But there comes a time in a woman's life,

when she fancies a foreign affair.

so if it's alright with you, and just this one time.

I fancy a Nissan instead.
